Basket (1) - Victorian - Silverplate

The ornate basket interior is decorated with an etched pattern of ferns, grasses and flowers surrounding central round depression. The outer edge of the basket has a repousse design of hummingbirds, ferns, flowers and columns. The basket is supported by a column in the shape of a heron with a fish in its mouth. CONDITION There is silver loss but it still shines up fairly well. The handle is a little loose and has trouble standing on its own. There are small pit marks in the central depressed circular well and some light scratches from wear in the interior of the dish and on the base. There are also small nicks on edges and a slight dent on the base foot. The cake basket stands flat with no rocking.
