A Khorasan bronze basin, Persia, 12th/13th Century
of decagonal form with curving sides and flared rim, engraved and decorated with a roundel to the well with central harpy on a ground of vegetal interlace, the rim with a band of inscriptions

Inscriptions: Al-'izz al-da['im]/ al-iqbal a/ al-za'id wa a/l-dawlah al-sabighah wa al-kiramah.../... al-jidd wa al-dawlah a/ al['a]fiyah (?) a/al-salamah al-da['imah] (?), 'Perpetual glory, increasing prosperity and abundant wealth and generosity ... endevour and wealth and health (?), perpetual (?) well-being.'
