See lot 123 in this sale for a mug with an alternative print of the battle of the Nile and a very similar inscription, probably made in Sunderland. As the reverse print of the present lot records, the foundation stone was laid at Wearmouth Bridge on 24th September 1793 and was completed in 1796, two years before the battle of the Nile.
