Description: Photograph album with 77 albumen or gelatin silver photographs mounted on gray leaves. 13x17.5 cm (5¼x7"), red cloth stamped in black.Album documenting life in San Francisco and the Bay Area in the early twentieth century. Many of the images are of maritime subjects, with ships such as the Amador, Foresthome, and Slocum, as well as the Tellus after the collision with the Belgian King, which occurred in July 1900. Other subjects include bathers at local beaches, Golden Gate Park, a Victorian mansion precariously perched at water's edge, the woodworking and machine shops at the California School of Mechanical Arts, locomotives, the Pioneer Monument when it stood in front of the old City Hall, and Hemmenga's Grocery store. Many captioned in manuscript.
Condition Report: Most photos with light to moderate fading, some more heavily faded; occasional adhesive strips, one small image defaced with pen marks; overall good or better.
