Beautiful Roman Glass Double Unguent w/ Trailing

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 3rd to 4th century CE. A wonderful double unguentarium formed from semi-translucent glass of a pale yellow-green hue. The vessel has a planar base, a pair of conjoined cylindrical containers with thick rims, and a pair of applied trailed handles. The elegant composition is enrobed with coils of threadlike trailing, and areas of rainbow-hued iridescence imbue the vessel with an attractiveness characteristic of ancient Rome! Size: 1.875" W x 4.4" H (4.8 cm x 11.2 cm); 4.8" H (12.2 cm) on included custom stand.

Provenance: The Dere Family Collection, New York, USA, assembled 1970s-2000s; ex-Stephen Shalom Collection, New York, USA, acquired in 1980s

Condition Report: Small losses to top of one handle and areas of trailing as shown. Minor nicks to base and both cylinders, with light encrustations and weathering film. Nice earthen deposits throughout, and scattered areas of rainbow iridescence.
