Bedside fonts (2) - Louis XVI Style - Glass - Second half 18th century

These two bedside fonts, made of spun glass, are exceptional in their preserved condition and workmanship. They were made by a master glassmaker. They are at least datable from the 18th century, if not earlier. Dimensions: h 22 cm, width 9. 7 cm, thickness 6 cm The white font is totally intact. The font with the blue inlay has a repair of the "crest". Apart from this repair with epoxy glue, there is no lack. These fonts were probably made in the period 1650-1790. This intense blue is based on smalt. The white glass is exceptional for its brightness. Its clarity suggests a quality sodium glass. They may have been produced by Bernard Perrot's workshop.
