Belgium - 19th Century - Mid to Late - E. Bernard (Liège) - double canons damassés - finement gravé - Pinfire (Lefaucheux) - Rifle - 16 ga

Nice old rifle, double damascus barrels, signed by gunner Bernard and hallmarked Liege (circa 1870/1880) , pinfire system (lefaucheux) in 16 calibre. It works perfectly mechanically, with two well-synchronised notches and large percussion. Locking/unlocking and step-up work well. - the barrel has its original damascus tanning, patinated, with small stains and scratches but still in homogeneous and good condition. - varnished walnut wood with small signs of wear and ageing, small lacks, small touch-ups and bumps, old insect holes but still solid. - locks, step-up and trims made of finely engraved polished steel, with old traces of corrosion. - the left hammer has obviously been replaced (see detailed photos) . Lovely meticulously-made rifle with lovely signature that is nearly 150 years old, in its patina, with its old signs of wear and ageing but still in nice condition and in perfect mechanical condition.
