Belknap Hardware Blue Grass Architectural Mantel Clock

This American mantel clock features an architectural ebonized wood case with a textured finish. The facade is ornamented with gilt-brass architectural elements, including four Corinthian-style columns supporting a central section and a decorative pediment featuring draped curtains and a laurel wreath. Large ornate gilt-brass scroll handles are mounted to each side of the case. The circular cream-colored dial displays black Arabic numerals and is protected by a hinged brass bezel with a glass lens. Printed at the center of the dial is an elaborate cartouche logo reading BELKNAP EXTRA QUALITY BLUE GRASS LOUISVILLE U.S.A. TRADE MARK and the model No. BG60. Along the lower edge of the dial, printed text reads BELKNAP HARDWARE & MFG. CO. (INCORPORATED) LOUISVILLE, KY. The mechanical eight-day spring-driven movement is housed within the case, accessible through a wooden rear panel secured by a metal latch. The internal mechanism features brass plates, a striking bell, and a coiled wire gong. A red adhesive label with illegible black markings is located on the lower left of the rear case. The clock rests on four supports, with the front two being uncharacteristic wooden cylindrical pegs.
