Ben Shahn Lithograph Maximus Of Tyre
Ben Shahn (AMERICAN, 1898–1969) Lithograph "Closing Paragraph of Dissertation VIII of Maximus Of Tyre (1st Cent A.D.)". From the Nature of Cultural Things by Marvin Harris. Color lithograph on full sheet with deckled edges. Signed with chop mark, Red signature and the title is inscribed in pencil lower right. Circa 1963. Please note the print was framed under acrylic by A.P.F.. Inc. NYC Framemakers and Conservators (label verso) and later covered with a great deal of tape on the acrylic , which we removed. We recommend the piece being reframed or the acrylic replaced. The lithograph itself is affixed to mat at corners, there is light toning and the glue on the corners has bled through. There is also a horizontal crease/fold in the center. Both of the Ben Shahn's we are offering have been in storage, apparently for some time. Full sheet measures 36" x 26". frame measures 40" x 31".
