Benitoite, Neptunite, & Joaquinite-(Ce) Dallas Gem Mine, Santa Rita Peak, New Idria District, Diablo Range, San Benito Co., California, USA "An 8 cm specimen with benitoite and neptunite crystals up to about 2 cm with a heavy sprinkling of Joaquinite on the specimen as well as a little white natrolite the remains of what was etched away to show the crystals. Bought the specimen from Willard Perkins when he sold his collection." - Rock H. Currier Many old specimens of Benitoite have had excess Natrolite removed by selective etching in acid, revealing hidden crystals in some cases and others having had all the contrasting white Natrolite stripped away, ended up worse for the experience. Not always a good thing. Fortunately for us, the etching on this specimen was done correctly. And chances are, it was in a 'Perky' box when Rock bought it. Overall Measurements: 3.1 x 3.1 x 0.8 inches (8.0 x 8.0 x 2.0 cm) Offered at no reserve Provenance: Ex. Willard Perkins Collection [RHC #3551, acquired 1978] [Scale: 1 inch, with mark at 1 cm]
