Images of the lagoon city and the nearby mainland were the focus of his oeuvre throughout his life. In his work, he pairs landscapes and city vistas with scenes from daily life. He uses a warm colour palette to capture intense lighting and to lend his works atmospheric depth.
Ciardi died in 1932 at the family home in Quinto di Treviso.
