Berenice Abbott Attr. New York Skyline Night

Berenice Abbott, attributed (American, 1891 - 1991) photograph on paper titled, "Skyline at Night," mid to late 20th century, depicting a bird's-eye view of Manhattan, New York skyscrapers and streets illuminated by office and street lights.

Dimensions are: paper measures 13 7/8 inches wide X 11 inches tall. All measurements are approximate. Artist Biography: Berenice Alice Abbott was, according to MoMA, NYC, "a central figure in and important bridge betwee nthe photographic circles and cultural hubs of Paris and New York." She began her artistic career studying sculpture and then mastered photography while an assistant at the Man Ray Studio in Paris. Beginning in the Great Depression, she began a documentary series of photographs of New York City, which greatly influenced the remainder of her career.

Condition: Dog-ear in the top right corner, impression of a hole punch in the bottom left corner. Light soiling and smudge marks on verso, light foxing.
