A view on the famous Japanese Kinkaku-ji (Golden Pavilion) , a Zen Buddhist temple in Kyoto, Japan. Signed in pencil. Second state limited edition numbered in pencil 66/250. Colour lithograph on ‘Arches vellum’ paper In a good original condition with some foxing in the margins. Framed in a sturdy Japanese style wooden frame with plexiglass. Set with taped corners on a passe-partout. Dimensions work: Height 58 cm, Width 76 cm. Dimensions frame: Height 78. 7 cm, Width 88. 6 cm. Bernard Buffet was a French painter, printmaker, and sculptor. He produced a varied and extensive body of work. His style was exclusively figurative. The artist enjoyed worldwide popularity early in his career but was shunned by art pundits later on. Today, there is a renewed interest in Bernard Buffet's oeuvre, especially in Japan. His works can be seen in the collections of the world's leading museums, including the Musée d'Art Moderne de Paris, the Tate, and the Museum of Modern Art.
