Meninsky's first solo exhibition at the Goupil Gallery (1919) showed a series of 'Mother and Child' drawings, the following year he published a selection of works in 'Mother and Child: Twenty-Eight Drawings' (London: John Lane, 1920), which portrayed his first wife, Margaret O'Connor, and their son during their short-lived marriage (1917-1919).
