Bernardaud & Co. Limoges - Raymond Loewy, Jean-Jacques Prolongeau - Coffee set (15) - Orion - Limoges porcelain

[ translate ]

Magnificent Limoges porcelain service from the famous Bernardaud factory, designed by Raymond Loewy.

This coffee service, Orion, is the symbol of the Bernardaud brand's entry into the modernity of the 60s. Like Coquet, who called on Marc Held at the same period, Bernardaud chose to call Raymond Loewy , famous designer of the 60s, 70s, 80s (we owe him in particular the Coke bottle, the sublime Studebakers from 1954, or the famous and rare DF2000 model console published by the Doubinsky Brothers around 1965, which cannot be found today) .

With Loewy, the brand truly enters modernity, with this service with pure and geometric lines, slightly curved, of great elegance and practicality (rare for this design) .

On the manufacturing side, we find the very high quality of Bernardaud: porcelain of remarkable translucence, perfect whiteness and real finesse of execution (the parabola-shaped handles are hollow) .

The decor, created by Jean-Jacques Prolongeau, another big name in French ceramics, is exemplary of sobriety: geometric decor in the space-age style, deep blue edging placed on the handles of the shaped pieces and the cups.

This rare service (barely 1000 copies sold) is iconic of the 60s.
