[ translate ]

\Artist: Bernardo Celentano (1835-1863)
Technique: Oil on canvas\Signature: Hand signed\Dimensions: 37_30_2_cm
Refined and elegant oil work by the artist Bernardo Celentano (Naples, 23 February 1835 – Rome, 28 July 1863) , Italian painter, exponent of verismo. His first teacher was Luigi Stabile; later he attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples, where his teacher was Giuseppe Mancinelli, an artist linked to the academic tradition. Before 1860 he settled in Rome, where he carried out an intense but brief artistic activity, also with paintings on sacred subjects. Together with Domenico Morelli, of whom he was a friend, and Filippo Palizzi, he was the animator of the movement of artistic renewal towards realism and in contrast with the strict academic rules, which is known as the School of Resìna. The work in question is presumably a study of a work then realized later and depicts a pleasant female portrait of excellent workmanship and pictorial quality. 1850/1860 In fair overall condition, with some signs of wear and ageing, which do not affect the beauty of the work. With certificate of authenticity. Accurate and tracked shipping. The non-coeval frame is offered as a gift and should be considered as such.
