His crib was in the ‘Oude Westen’ of Rotterdam, a typical working-class neighbourhood, where he, as he says himself, grew up between the pubs and the ladies of the night. In those days he already loved drawing and would sit for hours at the kitchen table. Dimensions with the frame: 56 x 46 cm Dimensions without the frame: 40 x 30 cm. The panel is in excellent condition and there are slight traces of use on the frame.
