Bertrandite on Microcline var. Amazonite Lake George, Teller...

[ translate ]

Bertrandite on Microcline var. Amazonite Lake George, Teller Co., Colorado, USA The Amazonite "diggings" in the Lake George area are most notable for the blue-green version of Microcline Feldspar, commonly found in pockets there. Smoky Quartz, usually broken by pocket collapse, is next in the list of associated minerals found there, followed by Goethite. After that, things get much rarer: things like this Bertrandite 'spray' parked on top of a chunk of Amazonite. Not a big specimen, but then again, Bertrandite doesn't tend to form big anything, particularly crystals. Usually colorless, mostly micro specimens, this Bertrandite defies the odds: it's fairly good size, well crystallized, esthetically arranged in a fan, and attractively perched on a wonderful contrasting blue matrix of Amazonite. What's not to like about this miniature? Overall Measurements: 1.2 x 1.3 x 1.5 inches (3.0 x 3.2 x 3.8 cm) Offered at no reserve Provenance: RHC #5297 [Scale: 1 inch, with mark at 1 cm]
