Beryl var. Emerald Kafubu emerald mining district, Lufwanyama District, Copperbelt Province, Zambia 10.6 x 6.2 x 4.6 cm (4.17 x 2.44 x 1.81 in) Fine gem-quality Emerald crystals with a rich deep green color form an attractive, radiating cluster, with some crystals tightly grouped and others extending outward. Rising above the main cluster is a prominent Emerald crystal measuring 8.6 centimeters, crowned by a second cluster of smaller Emerald crystals growing in multiple directions. The crystals are transparent with a bright vitreous luster, and backlighting reveals dark inclusions within many of the gemmy Emeralds. The unusual multi-level growth and sculptural arrangement make this an especially distinctive Emerald specimen. From the collection of John Warn [ZAM21300a-2].
