Beryl var. Morganite Dara-e-Pech pegmatite field, Dara-e-Pech District, Kunar, Afghanistan 5.1 x 5.4 x 3.1 cm (2.00 x 2.12 x 1.22 in) Gem-quality minerals have long been prized for their exceptional transparency, and the finest examples can evoke the appearance of a snow globe frozen in motion, much like this Morganite crystal. Measuring 5.1 centimeters across, the crystal displays smooth, sharply defined faces and is accompanied by a secondary growth of Morganite at its base. The crystal is transparent through much of its body, becoming milkier toward the base while displaying delicate pastel pink zoning throughout. White Albite is dispersed throughout the crystal's interior, creating an almost blizzard-like effect within the transparent Morganite, while additional Albite coats portions of the exterior alongside a small association of Muscovite.
