Bible that is, the Holy Scriptures Contained in the Old and New Testament. …With most profitable annotations upon all hard places, and other things of great importance… 2 parts in one, include tables and concordances, lacks Apocrypha, woodcut title not present, printed general title and New Testament title with the heart-shaped border depicting the 12 apostles, the 12 Tribes of Israel and the 4 Evangelists, both present, several woodcut text illustrations, woodcut map of the Jewish diaspora, the vision of Ezekiel to verso of Ll4, and of the Holy Land to verso of Aaa2 following New Testament title, lacking all before cc in second part of the Old Testament, without the Booke of Psalms including Sternhold and Hopkins’ metrical Psalms, but with The Book of Common Prayer, dated c. 1632 (tear to lower margin affecting colophon), lacking woodcut title, [ESTC, S93892], joints cracked, text block split in parts, many leaves loose, heavy browning and dust soiling, spotting and marking, some marginal damp staining, a few pages shaved at head or foot, tearing to right outer or lower border of leaves, often touching side notes, signatures or catchwords, many paper flaws slightly affecting text, later calf, rather rubbed and worn, upper board loose, ownership annotations to verso of second title and last leaf of Prophets, [Herbert No 248; STC 2177, version with 'seuen/ and twenty prouinces' in Esther I; ESTC S117087; Darlow & Moule I 191], 4to, London [i.e. Amsterdam], by the deputies of Christopher Barker, printer to the Queenes most excellent Maiestie [i.e. J.F. ***Illustrated later reprint of the Geneva version of the Old Testament, translated by William Whittingham, Anthony Gilby, Thomas Sampson, and perhaps others (lacking the Apocrypha), probably printed clandestinely in Amsterdam by John Frederick Stam, for the use of English Puritans in the Low Countries, with two false dates and imprints. It includes Laurence Tomson’s revision of the Geneva version of the New Testament and his translation of Franciscus Junius’ translation of Revelation.
