(Bibles : Americana) 1 Vol. (Bible in German). Biblia, Das ist: Die Heilige Schrift Altes und Neues Testaments, Nach der Deutschen Uebersetzung D. Martin Luthers... Germantown: Christoph Sauer, 1743. 4to, contemporary (original?) black calf over wooden boards, defective clasps (brass catches and bottoms of leather ties remaining); rubbed and worn, top section of spine worn away, pastedowns abraded, front free endpaper gone, back free endpaper creased and torn. Some dust smudging and chipping to edges of general title page, contents moderately toned, occasional spotting, mostly marginal dampstaining at bottom and fore edges, occasionally touching text, small singe wound at heads of Old Testament p. 925 to New Testament p. 42 - mostly affecting top rules and running heads, but also much of the word "Das" at the top of the New Testament title page. Leaf 4N4 (OT p. 647/648) defective - fore edge half of the leaf cut away. Old ink manuscript on back blank and back free endpaper. General title printed in red and black. Separate New Testament title page. General title page Variant A. Pagination: [4], 995, [1], 277, [7] pages, leaf size: 246 mm.
