Bijar is a province in northwestern Iran, where the majority of the people are Kurdish. Bijar carpets are almost exclusively made in traditional homework, relatively often by men, as more strength is needed than usual for the firm knotting. The Bijar is one of the most popular oriental carpets today. It is characterized by its thickness, durability and timelessness.
