Blackwell, Elizabeth (1821-1910) Autograph Letter Signed, Rock House, Hastings, 28 June 1888. Single watermarked wove bifolium inscribed over four pages to Dr. Blackwell's niece Alice Stone Blackwell (1857-1950), asking Alice to be executor of her will, conveying her intention to leave everything to her adopted daughter Kitty Barry (1848-1936); mentioning some success in Parliament related to the Indian Contagious Diseases Acts, but more work to do, "The warfare will go on ceaselessly, until the double standard of morality is slain, and swords beaten into ploughshares, which will not be in my day, nor alas in yours. So courage, and onwards!"; complete transcription available upon request, 10 x 8 in.
