Nova Belgica Et Anglia Nova. Willem Blaeu (1571-1638). Engraved map with original hand color in part. Amsterdam, 1635 (1638). 16 x 20 1/2 inches visible, 24 x 28 1/2 inches framed. This important map was one of the most attractive of the Americas at the time. It is noted for the fact that its primary source is the first manuscript figurative map of Adriaen Block (1614). It is one of the first to name Nieu Amsterdam, Nieu Pleimonth, and t’ Lange Eyland. It is also the first printed map to show otters, polecats and Beavers. (Burden)
