Victorian style silver plated bowl 1930s-40s. The bowl is marked on the base "made in England"; the pictorial mark of Blagden, Hodgson & Co (1821-1833) "cross over globe" and hand scratched number "H I H 913509". The hallmark cross over globe, which is the mark of Blagden and Hodgson Co., England.
Blagden, Hodgson & Co used the mark of cross over globe since ca. 1821. In ca 1840 electroplating became popular, and the silversmiths began to cease production of the much more expansive and difficult to produce Old Sheffield pieces.
