Blanche Morizet was born on May 23, 1878 in Achères (Yvelines) , at the home of her grandfather Jean-Baptiste Roboam; his father, Jules Morizet, is employed at the central halls of Paris. It was by taking the diminutive name of her maternal family that she formed her artist name with which she signed her first works: “Roboa”. Attracted to painting at a very young age, she was noticed by a critic from Le Figaro who described her as an “exquisite artist with subtle and refined colors”.

Indeed, a learned colorist, she expresses herself equally well in pastel and oil paint. If the first emphasize the softness of the faces, the cushioned atmosphere of the young women captured in intimate moments, the use of oil contrasts above all by its pronounced taste for the material in a “wild” spirit.
