acrylic on panel in a metal frame, 100 x 80 cm, signed lower right: B. W. Łoboda
Born in 1952. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź. He also completed postgraduate studies at the State Higher School of Theater in Warsaw at the Department of Puppet Theater Directing in Białystok.
He has designed sets for numerous children’s plays staged at State Puppet Theaters, including those in Gdańsk, Poznań, Lublin, Będzin, and Bielsko-Biała, as well as at the Theater in Radom.
In recent years, he has focused on painting—his works feature fairy-tale characters and scenes drawn from the theater productions for which he previously created set designs.
For many years, he worked in printmaking, with a particular emphasis on color woodcut. The subject matter of these works was often the female portrait—a juxtaposition of two faces, two personalities—a dialogue or conflict expressed using minimalist graphic means.
