LUCKY LUKE (AS SEEN BY...)
Lucky Luke’s Long March,
Bulle au Mans 2026
Original cover. Signed.
India ink, colored inks, and gouache on paper
35.8 × 51.4 cm (14.09 × 20.24 in.)
Here is an unusual scene: it is not Lucky Luke chasing the Daltons, but the Daltons chasing our hero. The scene is divided into three panels. Lucky Luke gallops ahead. The Daltons are in hot pursuit, with a majestic mountain in the background—its colors paradoxically soft, almost soothing—contrasting with the high-stakes chase unfolding below. The low-angle framing draws us even deeper into the heart of the scene.
“I wanted a very dynamic version, with Lucky Luke galloping toward us, to create movement and intensity. I played on the contrast between the hero’s warm colors and the much paler background. We see a very angry Joe, while Averell is completely out of it. He’s looking away, not understanding why he’s there.” M.B.
