Exceedingly scarce book from 1738, representing -- among other things -- the first translation of the Jewish Prayer Book into English. Title page elaborates: " "The Book of Religion, Ceremonies, and Prayers of the Jews as Practised in Their Synagogues and Families on All Occasions; on Their Sabbath and Other Holy Days Throughout the Year ... Translated Immediately from the Hebrew, London, J. Wilcox, 1738." 291pp plus index. Measures 7-7/8" x 5-1/8".
Condition Report: Professional conservation included repair of front board separation, and reinforcement of spine and two corners. Pages show some toning and some edge chipping, particularly on ffep. Original owner's inscriptions on endpapers.
