Bookcase - Restauration - Mahogany - 1820-1830

[ translate ]

A 19th century Dutch bookcase made in the French style of the transition period from Empire to Biedermeier, the so-called Restauration/Restoration period around 1820-1830. The bookcase is made up of oak & mahogany and glued with (flower) mahogany veneer. Especially for the front, parts are used with a beautiful flame drawing and different shades of colour! The doors are constructed on the bottom with a veneered panel and glass above it, the right door still has the original pulled glass. The left door has its two original brass side sliders and the right door still has the original lock with corresponding key. Both doors are inlaid with a shield-shaped bone key entrance. On either side of the doors are sleekly designed volutes. Behind the doors there are four adjustable solid oak shelves. At the front, the cupboard rests on elegantly designed legs. The bookcase also has several refined mouldings. The back is made up of a style and line work with panels that are connected to each other by means of arched pin and hole connections. The entire bookcase has a nice warm orange-brown colour and is in an authentic wax finish.
