Collection of six antiquarian books: "The Poetical Works of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Illustrated" 2 volumes. (Boston: Houghton, Osgood and Company, The Riverside Press, Cambridge). Volume 1: 1879--xvi, 488pp; Volume II: 1880--xvi, pp. 489-928. Folio, full pebbled brown leather with raised bands on spine, gilt lettering on spines and front covers, floral blind stamp design on covers, all edges gilt, gilt inner dentelles, and marbled endpapers. A frontispiece portrait of Longfellow with tissue guard ins in Volume I. Name of former owner and dated Christmas 1885 on front inside flyleaves. Some cracking of spines along edges, edge of boards rubbed, and light foxing within; (2) "The Treasury of History; being A History of the World. . ." by Samuel Maunder. . .to which is added A Complete History of the United States to the Present Time, including The Late War With Mexico, California, etc. . .edited by John Inman, Esquire." 2 Volumes (New York: Printed by Harper & Brothers for Henry Bill, 1850). Thick 8vo. Volume I: ix; pp. 19-760; Volume II: x, pp. 11-690. Each volume has extra illustrated woodcut engraved titles and plates, embossed polish calf, gilt decorated spines, gilt & red morocco spine labels, marbled fore-edges, and marbled endpapers. Rubbing along edges of spine and boards, light foxing, all consistent with age and use--colored frontispiece of Volume I partly torn away, otherwise complete and in good condition; (2) "History of Plymouth Plantation, 1620-1647" by William Bradford. In Two Volumes. (Boston: Published for The Massachusetts Historical Society by Houghton Mifflin Company, 1912). Volume I: xvi, 452pp; Volume II: xiii, 462pp. Quarto, hardcover cloth. Volume I features a large fold-out U.S. Coast Survey Map of Cape Cod Bay--originally published in 1872, and Volume II features a large fold-out U.S. Coast Survey Map of Plymouth, Kingston, and Duxbury--originally published in 1876. Both maps are enclosed in pockets attached to the rear covers of each volume--and both are in near mint condition. Both volumes have numerous photographs or facsimiles of original maps and documents, such as the photograph of a letter from William Bradford to John Winthrop dated April 11, 1638 that appears as a frontispiece to Volume I. Some scuffing and soiling of boards consistent with age and use, a few pages untrimmed, but otherwise tight, clean, and in very good condition.
