Borek Sipek (Bořek Šípek) (1949-2016) for Driade ‘Follies’ Series, a blue and white Delft porcelain ‘Albertine’ dinner service c.1989, printed underglaze Delft marks and various initials Comprising:- six large dinner plates with undulating rim, six small plates with blue centres and undulating rim, a set of six soup bowls with undulating flange and six fan shaped breakfast or side plates each glazed off-white with some blue decoration Dinner plate 28.5 cm diameter, small plates 22.2 cm diameter (24) Property from a Private Collection Note: Bořek Šípek (1949-2016) was a renowned postmodern Czech Architect and designer who was born in Prague and established his own design workshop in Amsterdam in 1983. He also began a collaboration with the Italian brand Driade, designing furniture and objects for them. His glass pieces have sometimes been described as Bohemian "neo-baroque". In his homeland he was designated ‘Court architect’ of Prague Castle by the then Czech president Václav Havel, the Castle being his official residence.
