Borneo Ngaju Dayak Wood Standing Nude Female Charm

[ translate ]

**Originally Listed At $300**

Southeast Asia, Borneo, Ngaju Dayak, ca. late 19th to early 20th century CE. A hand carved standing nude anthropomorphic figure with female attributes. She stands squarely upon both feet with her left hand presenting her right breast and her right hand held up to the side of her head. Her somewhat simian visage is delineated with characteristically simple features. A gorgeous dark patina from touch has developed over the ages! The Dayak people held animist beliefs, and perhaps this was a fertility effigy figure. Size: 1.75" W x 4.25" H (4.4 cm x 10.8 cm); 5" H (12.7 cm) on included custom stand.

Provenance: Ex- private collection of Ami Brown. Mr. Brown was the owner of the Coca Cola franchise in Israel and amassed a huge and very fine collection of Indonesian Kris's as well as other ethnographic and tribal arts. His collection numbered more than 3000 pieces with many on display during his life in the Ein Harod Museum of Art.

All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.

A Certificate of Authenticity will accompany all winning bids.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to recent increases of shipments being seized by Australian & German customs (even for items with pre-UNESCO provenance), we will no longer ship most antiquities and ancient Chinese art to Australia & Germany.
