5-Gallon salt-glazed stoneware pottery cobalt decorated jug stamped E.W. HALE / BOSTON / 5 with elaborate cobalt slip floral basket or urn decoration to one side of the body. 18" H x approx. 11 1/2' dia. Last quarter 19th century. Note: Hale was a grocer in Boston in the late 19th century.

Condition Report: Overall very good condition with glaze flakes to the rim edge, a few voids to the cobalt decoration (possibly in the making), tight hairline to base of handle.
