This is a large flower-shaped satsuma bowl by Shizan. Nagae Shizan 長江司山, was an artist in Meiji-early Taisho time. Signed 司山 (Shizan) , he was one of the best Kyo-satsuma artists in Kobe area. He exhibited at the European expositions with Kinkozan and Yabu Meizan. The bowl has rich and intricate multicolor and golden flower details. Some of the gold paint along the rim is missing. Otherwise, excellent condition.
