An exceptional Russian silver & enamel egg-shaped box. The harlequin sides decorated with diamond panels of black, white and brick red enamel edged with fine twisted wire and studded with tiny gilt beads, on a round pedestal foot. It has a very nice solid weight to it. Hallmarks: л (“L” for Leningrad) and . 925 together with "hammer & sickle star" \t Leningrad (USSR) , circa 1970.
