Brahin Meteorite Slice Pallasite, PMG Gomel', Belarus - (52° 30'N, 30° 20'E) Found: 1810 This thick, and roughly triangular, meteorite slice is a representation of the Brahin Pallasite, the second meteorite ever to be found in Russia. Full of golden-yellowish Olivine crystals, this metallic ‘wedge' has beautiful attributes although the thickness makes it lack translucency. Fortunately, that also makes this a rather solid offering of a variety not often considered the most stable of the classification. The crystals cover the majority of both smooth surfaces and dominate the otherwise metallic slab from space. This is a treated example weighing a robust 316.6 grams. Three of its edges are similarly polished and feature a smattering of Olivine crystals. The remaining edge is rugged and quite sharp, exhibiting a brownish crust. The contrast of the reflective silvery surface against the glassy crystals is visually magnificent in this slice. Overall Measurements: 5.14 x 4.24 x 0.29 inches (13.06 x 10.78 x 0.73 cm), weighs 316.6 grams [Scale: 1 inch, with mark at 1 cm]
