Brass and Rosewood Union Mowing Machine Model, probably made by Thomas H. Dodge, c. 1866, fully functional model with brass wheels, brass and steel mower, and rosewood frame, with engraved silver medal reading: "This Medal Awarded/TO/THOMAS H. DODGE/For/UNION/Mowing Machine," and "New Hampshire State Agricultural Society/12th/Annual Fair/at/Nashua/Sept. 18, 1866," model housed in a mahogany box, model lg. 14 1/2, wd. 12 in.

Note: Thomas H. Dodge was born in Eden, Vermont, in 1823. He was a lawyer and for a brief period of time First Assistant in the U.S. Patent Office. In 1864 Dodge moved to Worcester, Massachusetts and became an owner of the Union Mowing Machine Company.
