Enfield Pattern 1853 rifled musket used by the British Empire from 1853 to 1867. The 39 in (99 cm) barrel has three distinct grooves, and is fastened to the stock with three metal bands (three band model) . The crown and VR on the lock are clearly visible but a little worn, whilst the Tower and date (1861) are somewhat more worn but can still be seen. The firing mechanism is in good working order. The bayonet fits very well, but it is not British. The adjustable ladder rear sight has four steps from 100 yards (91 m) to 400 yards (370 m) . For further distances (up to 1 km) , there is an adjustable flip-up blade sight. The gun has been re-stocked with good quality walnut with an oiled finish, but should it be wanted, the original stock is included in the sale.
