British 19C Victorian Telegraph Cables Samples Box

Rare presentation case containing samples of submarine telegraph cables. British Indian Submarine Telegraph Company's Cables, 1870. Contains 16 samples of cables that were laid from Suez to Aden and from Aden to Bombay. Six inch sections of cable bound with brass and labeled mounted under cross sections of coordinating cables. Engraved brass plaque with descriptions mounted to the green felt lined interior. Mahogany presentation case with beveled glass top by Hobbs & Co London. Similar example can be seen in the Maritime Collection at the Royal Museum Greenwich.
