British Armed Forces – Special Voucher Banknotes (4) Group comprising two £1 vouchers, one 50p and one 3d (threepence) issued for use by British military personnel stationed overseas. These notes were introduced after World War II to prevent black-market trading and protect local economies by ensuring soldiers spent military-issued currency within bases rather than local money. They circulated in NAAFI shops, canteens and service facilities on British bases abroad. British Armed Forces vouchers were used across numerous overseas postings including West Germany, Cyprus, Malta, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei, Bahrain and Gibraltar during the Cold War era. A fascinating piece of British military and monetary history. Condition as per images.
