Bronze Clock Attributed to Jacob Petit
Rare Bronze Dore and Porcelain Clock Attributed to Jacob Petit
second quarter 19th century, French, richly decorated with Rococo Revival dore trim, the base with grape-trimmed Silenus masques forming the feet, the clock with pierced scrollwork, rocaille work and stippling, the porcelain body covered in delicately hand-painted flowers on a gilt stippled ground.
h. 20-1/2", w. 15-3/4", d. 8-1/2"
Provenance: The Estate of Frank Fasullo, New Orleans, Louisiana.
Dimensions: 15.75 x 20.5 x 8.5 in
Condition Report: Nominal rubbing and wear to mounts and painted porcelain. No key or pendulum present. There is a hole at the center top of the back side of the clock, suggesting a mount may be missing. The porcelain exhibits a repair about 2" up from the base on each side of the clock body, obscured from the front by the bronze mounts. Threaded rods on the underside interior of the clock suggest this may have once been mounted on an additional element.
