Brown agate ‘Banzhu’ Dzi bead, Liao dynasty
A lenticular ritual bead made of agate in shades of brown and dark brown, with a transverse perforation. It has a gently domed shape, with a flat base and a front face decorated with a natural ‘eye’ pattern formed by concentric bands in white and grey. Liao Dynasty (916–1125) or later.
