Bruce Crane (American, 1853-1937)

"Blossoming Lilac Tree." Oil on canvas, signed lower right corner, name plate "Bruce Crane, N.A." attached on the frame front; framed under glass with gilt fillet and original Art Nouveau gilt frame, overall 15 ⅛" x 18 ¼". Old paper label "Wunderly Bros. Fine Art Dealers Pittsburgh, PA" and hand written note "This is an original canvas / Bruce Crane" under glazing attached to the back.

Provenance: old prominent private collection, Pittsburgh, PA; gifted to current owner's mother in mid. 1970's from Elizabeth Braun Ernst (her father Arthur E. Braun was president of the Farmers Deposit National Bank in 1919 and publisher of the Pittsburgh Post and the Pittsburgh Sun, and became a chairman of the advisory committee of the Mellon Bank in 1950; Warwick Terrace Estate, Morewood Heights, Pittsburgh; contemporaries of Andrew Carnegie).

Condition: Painting very good; some wear to gilt and minor losses to frame.
