Bud Abbott Vintage Special Denison, Iowa Police Badge From the Abbott Estate - This vintage Special Police badge from the Denison, Iowa Police Department was part of a private collection of memorabilia owned by Bud Abbott, the "straight man" half of the iconic comedy duo Abbott and Costello. Performing together from 1935 until 1957, Abbott and Costello were the highest paid entertainers in the world during World War II. They frequently impersonated police officers in their performances, most notably in Abbott and Costello Meet the Keystone Kops and season 2, episode 16 of The Abbott and Costello show, titled Police Rookies. The lot includes a photocopy of an original notarized letter of provenance signed by Bud Abbott's wife.
