Magnificent reproduction of a Buddha’s head from the Dvaravati period, 6th - 11th century. Dvaravati was a civilisation that developed in central Thailand and southern Burma. It is still unclear whether the word Dvaravati refers to a city or a kingdom. This magnificent and very heavy sculpture is incredibly well made with details reflecting the atypical style with fleshy features, large nose, large, full lips, large eyes and long, elongated earlobes.
