Buddha thangka, Japan/Asia, 19th century
Pigments on canvas. In the centre is a gilded figure of a Buddha seated in a meditative posture on an elaborate pedestal. He is framed by two haloes and surrounded by warriors. In front of him are two female 'Guanyin' figures on lotus bases. On the lower line there is a line of clouds and at the top a wreath between lotuses and 'ruyi' clouds, with hanging laces. No seals are visible.
It is mounted on a stretcher frame and then framed.
