Byobu - Lacquer, Paper, Wood - Bird, Pine tree, Chrysanthemum - Kôkan 光観 - Big two panel room divider with an attractive bird and nature design, signed - Japan - Heisei period (1989-present)

Large two panel byobu with multi-coloured painting depicting a pair of golden pheasant in luscious nature. The pair is walking towards the river edge under the shade of the pine tree, surrounded by blooming soft pink chrysanthemums, blue iris's and soft pink bell flowers. The design is painted on a paper background accentuated by gilded speckles. Signed in the lower right corner Kôkan 光観. The screen has a black lacquered frame with decorative gold coloured hardware at the sides. It is in a good condition, and is a nice large decorative piece. These kinds of room-dividers are light in weight and can also be easily mounted flat on a wall and presented as one piece of art. Total width: 188 cm; (2 x 94 cm) , Height: 173 cm.
