Byobu - goldleaf - Set of 2 six panel late Edo period goldleaf screens with quiet continous painting of a landscape - Japan - Late Edo period

Set of 2 six panel late Edo period screens (byobu) with a monochrome intriguing quiet painting of a landscape with a small rising sun, mountains, thatched houses, boats and trees on the left screen. A waterfall, trees in the bud and a hamlet in the distance on the right screen. On a gold leaf background with a lot of empty space. Signed (attributed) : Hôkyô Yûtei hitsu 法橋友汀筆, the painter Ishida Yûtei 石田 友汀 (1756-1815) . In nice original condition with in some limited spots signs of use and superficial damage. The backing paper of the two outer panels of the backside of the right screen have been replaced. These roomdividers are not heavy and can also be easily mounted flat on a wall and be presented as one impressive work of art. Lot will be carefully packed and sent by registered shipping.
